NATIONAL LABOUR COMMISSION

(NLC)


 

The National Labour Commission (NLC) established under the Labour Act 2003, Act 651 invites the following:

 

  • All Mediators and Arbitrators maintained in its database to a refresher training course on Labour Mediation and Arbitration and the Legislative Instruments under the Labour Act 2003, Act 651, L.I. 1822 and 1833.

 

  • Suitably qualified persons who wish to be maintained in the database of the Commission as Labour Mediators and Arbitrators.

 

Qualification for new applicants:

v     H.R. Managers with background in collective bargaining

v     Industrial Relations Specialists

v     Certificate in Mediation, Arbitration/Alternative Dispute Resolution

v     Persons with at least three years’ experience in collective bargaining negotiations.

In all situations, background in Law will be very desirable.

 

The Training will offer opportunity for the Labour Mediators and Arbitrators to share experiences on cases they have handled.

NATIONAL LABOUR COMMISSION

The National Labour Commission (NLC) established under the Labour Act 2003, Act 651 invites suitably qualified persons to fill in the following positions:

 

 

RESEARCH ASSISTANT

Position

 

Work at the Research Unit

 

Duties

 

  • Investigate complaints lodged with the Commission with respect to Unfair Labour Practices in an establishment or undertaking.

 

  • Research into various issues that often result in labour disputes.

 

  • Research into various conventions and laws relating to rights of employers and employees and protection of employment.

 

  • Carry out research in other areas that will be relevant to the Commission’s work.

 

  • Assist in the resolution of complaints submitted to the Commission.

 

 

Qualifications

 

  • A good first degree in Sociology

 

  • Knowledgeable in Ghana Labour Laws

 

  • Knowledge in Collective Bargaining

 

  • Working knowledge in Industrial Relations and in a similar field for at least two years

 

  • Computer Literate

 

Background in Law will be very desirable.

 

 

Additional Requirements

 

  • Diploma/Certificate in Industrial Relations

 

  • Must be able to work with little or no supervision

 

  • Must be able to work under pressure

 

  • A good command of the English Language both spoken and written

 

 

 

 

 

 

DRIVER

 

Position

 

Driver at the National Labour Commission.

 

 

Duties

 

  • Driving Duties at the Commission

 

  • Driving in and out of town

 

 

Qualification

 

  • GCE ‘’O’ Level Certificate or SSSCE Certificate with at least five passes including English Language and Mathematics.

 

  • Ability to understand, write and speak the English Language

 

  • Professional Certificate (Driving) from a recognized institution.

 

  • Valid Drivers’ License

 

  • Ability to drive in and out of town

 

  • Ability to ride a motorbike will be an added advantage

 

  • At least three years’ driving experience in an establishment

 

  • Two passport-size photographs (to be submitted only when shortlisted)

 

 

 

OFFICE ASSISTANT

 

Position

 

Office Assistant at the National Labour Commission.

 

 

Duties

 

  • Assist in clerical work at the Commission

 

  • Any other duty that may be assigned from time to time

 

 

Qualification

 

  • GCE ‘’O’ Level Certificate or SSSCE Certificate with at least five passes including English Language and Mathematics.

 

  • Ability to understand, write and speak the English Language

 

  • Ability to type at least 40 w.p.m.

 

  • Must be computer literate

 

  • At least two years’ experience in an establishment

 

 

 

SALARY

 

The salary level attached to each of the above positions is attractive and commensurate to the position.
